| The
mechanical systems use an electric motor to operate either a worm
drive or hydraulic power pack. The gates are then opened with an actuating
mechanism consisting of an arm that is connected to the gate. |
Below Ground Systems |
| The
advantage of an underground system is in aesthetics, looking less
obtrusive than other systems because only the lid of the actuator
box can be seen at ground level. The rest of the system is concreted
into the ground where it cannot be seen. Although slightly more expensive
this type of system is usually chosen for decorative gates. |
Above Ground |
| Above
ground systems use an actuator arm fitted to the back of the gates.
The cost saving comes from the fact that these systems are easier
to fit. We have fitted 100's of these types and always design gates
to disguise the actuator arms. The arm designs have become much slimmer
in recent years. Another advantage of actuator arms is that they are
able to operate much heavier and therefore larger gate designs. |
Safety |
All
the systems we fit have an override facility so that, in the event
of power loss the gates can be opened manually.
Various other safety systems such as flashing lights and proximity
detectors are fitted as required. |
